The Leadership
The Church leadership carries the responsibility
of guiding the church family in spiritual growth
and community service.
They are tasked with teaching biblical principles, providing support during
difficult times, and fostering a welcoming
environment for all.
Additionally, church leaders must ensure
the effective management of church resources and nurture relationships
within the community.
Ultimately, their role is to inspire faith and
encourage members to live out their
beliefs in everyday life.
Co-Pastors - Ian & Mary Wakeham
Ian and Mary are delighted to be
our new co-pastors.
They have been part of the
church family for a couple
of years, and we all look forward
to seeing what the Lord
has planned for them
Jim Morris
Safeguarding Trustee
Jim has always been fascinated
by the sea and especially
vessels of all kinds, as most
of his formative years
were spent either on or
near canals, rivers and
the coast; from an early
age he was either on or near water.
No wonder then that his interest
continues as a volunteer.
His experience has highlighted the
many challenges we face providing for those in need at home and abroad and
the continues to suppor the many relief agencies involved.
This extends to the provision in our own
community through volunteering at schools and GP Surgeries.
Maurice Perry
Property and Bookings Trustee
On leaving school Maurice joined the Royal Navy and enjoyed a variety of
roles when he left.
He became a member
of the church
family in 2005
following his baptism.
The following year
he was elected as a deacon,
where he served
for 17 years.
Having taken a break, Maurice returned to the leadership team this year. Maurice is also anactive volunteer of Melksham Foodbank.
IAN WAKEHAM
Treasurer
With an extensive financial
background in the private and
charity sector, Ian recently gave up
paid work to focus on three charities
of which he is a trustee.
Ian has been preaching since the tender age of 16 and is still actively involved in preaching and
leading worship.
MARY WAKEHAM
Secretary
Mary has a real passion for
Community Engagement -
thoughher background is in Finance,
she gave up her day job to undertake
a degree in Theology at Bristol Baptist College between 2016 and 2021.
She never managed to return to paid work after
that, choosing instead to follow her heart, and
go into pastoral care.

Safeguarding
Melksham Baptist Church takes Safeguarding
seriously, and feels that transparency is important.
The Church believes that everyone should be
treated equally, with love and respect, and that all
the church family has a duty to look out for each other.
The safeguarding officer is Caroline, and the safeguarding trustee, Jim should be approached with any concerns.

Our Constitution was updated in 2022 to reflect the changes made necessary by COVID, to allow for voting by electronic means.

Accounts
Transparency in reporting how funds are spent is vital. Our Church Family are provided with updates at every church meeting.
The Church also files Financial Statements with the Charities Commission every year, outlining not only details of income and expenditure, but also an outline of the activities carried out by the church.
